192.168.1.xx, so I don't think that is it.Īnd I also disabled all internet connections except the hardware connection in network settings, thinking that the wireless and 1394 might be confusing things, but no good.Īnd then I created a hpmvhosts file with the NAS IP address but that didn't do it for the hardwire connection either. Additionally, the Media Vault can share files to Mac OSX and Linux computers. So, why does wireless work and hardwire does not? The only thing I can come up with is that I am connecting directly to the router using wireless but am going through a switch when hardwired. The HP Media Vault supports all of the above operating systems for file sharing. And as my desktop is also hardwired, it might make sense that I could not access the NAS from that machine without using the IP. Well, I did a bit of experimenting and found that I can access the NAS via the name using wireless on my laptop but NOT the hardwire connection. : UnknownĮthernet adapter Wireless Network Connection: Node IpAddress: Scope Id: Ĭ:\Documents and Settings\Robert>ipconfig /all I ran a couple CMDs as follows in hopes that the info would be helpful.Ĭ:\Documents and Settings\Robert>nbtstat -n So, why doesn't the NAS show up in my workgroup?

This issue is similar to the one described here however, disabling my firewall has no affect so I doubt it is a firewall issue.
